이번 페낭 여행에서는 조지타운에서 이틀, 바투페링기에서 하루를 보냈답니다. 그중 오늘은 첫날부터 이틀간 조지타운에서 보냈던 Jen페낭 조지타운 by 샹그릴라 투숙기입니다.
'23년 4월 말 기준, 디럭스 트윈룸(조식포함) 기준으로 샹그릴라 공식 홈페이지에서 2박에 42만원정도 결제했답니다.
During this trip to Penang, we spent two days in Georgetown and one day in Batu Ferringhi. Today, I'll share my experience of staying at Jen Penang Georgetown by Shangri-La for the two days we were in Georgetown.
As of late April '23, we booked a Deluxe Twin Room (including breakfast) for approximately USD350 for a two-night stay through the official Shangri-La website.

위치 / Location
위치는 아주 굿. 워낙 날이 더워서 걸어 다니기는 쉽지 않았지만, 조지타운 내의 유명 맛집이나 관광지는 도보로 갈 수 있었고, 쇼핑몰도 5분 거리에 있어서 급하게 필요한 게 있을 때도 편리했어요.
위치만 본다면, 페낭여행하시는 분들께 완전 추천하는 호텔입니다.
The location is excellent. Although the weather was hot, making it challenging to walk around, we were able to reach famous restaurants and tourist attractions within Georgetown on foot. Additionally, there was a shopping mall just a 5-minute walk away, which was convenient for any urgent needs.
Based on the location alone, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Penang.
체크인 / Check-in
무슬림에게는 1년 중 가장 중요한 명절인 라마단이 끝나는 하리라야 푸아사가 4월 22일이었답니다. 저희가 여행 갔던 시기는 이미 끝난 이후였지만, 무슬림에게는 워낙 중요한 명절이라 그런지 하리 라야 장식으로 초승달과 별무늬, 그리고 하리라야의 상징 케투팟이 로비에 아직 꾸며져 있었답니다.
젠 페낭 조지타운은 샹그릴라 호텔 소속이며, 다른 샹그릴라 호텔과 동일하게 모든 서류는 태블릿으로 체크인 처리가 되었답니다. 밤 12시가 다되어 호텔에 들어갔더니, 로비가 아주 조용했답니다.
For Muslims, Hari Raya Puasa, which marks the end of the most important festival, Ramadan, fell on April 22nd. Although our trip took place after the celebration had ended, the lobby of Jen Penang Georgetown, a Shangri-La hotel, was still decorated with crescent moons, stars, and the symbolic ketupat, which are traditional decorations for Hari Raya.
Jen Penang Georgetown is affiliated with the Shangri-La hotel chain, and like other Shangri-La hotels, all documentation and check-in processes were handled through tablets. When we entered the hotel close to midnight, the lobby was very quiet.
로비 사이즈가 넓은 편이랍니다. 저희가 체크인했던 시간이 워낙 늦어서 사람이 없었지만, 꽤 사이즈 있는 호텔답게 낮에는 시끌시끌했답니다.
The lobby is quite spacious. Since we checked in late, there weren't many people around, but being a sizable hotel, it was bustling during the daytime.
침실 및 침구 / Bedroom and Bedding
저희는 10층에 위치한 룸을 배정받았답니다.
We were assigned a room on the 10th floor.
너무 늦은 시간에 도착했더니 더블룸은 이미 마감되었고, 트윈룸만 남았다고 하더라고요. 혹시 너무 작은 침대로 세명이서 보내기가 어려울까 걱정했지만, 다행히 침대가 붙여져있고 꼬맹이까지 세명이서 보내는데 아주 불편하진 않았던 슈퍼싱글 사이즈의 침대였답니다.
When we arrived at such a late hour, the double-bed rooms were already fully booked, and only twin-beds rooms were available. We were a bit worried that sharing a small bed with three people might be difficult, but luckily the beds were joined together, and the super single size bed was not too uncomfortable for the three of us, even with our little one.
긴~하루의 끝. 하루가 힘들었던 꼬맹이는 룸에 들어오자마자 양말부터 벗어선 침대에 퍼지네요.
At the end of a long day, our tired boy, as soon as we entered the room, took off their socks and simply lay down on the bed.
룸사이즈가 작았지만, 테이블도 있네요. 바로 옆에 도어는 커넥팅룸도 가능하답니다. 4인 가족이라면 커넥팅룸으로 예약하시면 될 것 같네요.
Even though the room size was small, there was a table available. Right next to it, there was a connecting door, which allows for connecting rooms. If you are a family of four, booking a connecting room would be a good option.
페낭도 휴양지라 그런지 물은 유리 물병에 패킹되어 있네요. 미니바는 인스턴트커피와 기본 티백 몇 가지만 있고, 냉장고에 특별히 들어있는 음료는 없이, 주문을 원할경우 룸서비스로 주문이 가능했답니다.
옷장에는 미니 금고와 슬리퍼, 다리미도 포함되어 있습니다.
In Penang, being a resort destination, the water is packed in glass bottles. The minibar had a few instant coffee and basic tea bags, but there were no specially stocked beverages in the refrigerator. However, if you wished to order, you could do so through room service.
The wardrobe included a safety box, slippers, and an iron.
욕실 / Bathroom
욕실은 작지만 깔끔하게 청소가 되어 있어서 이용하는 데는 좋았어요. 수압도 쎄고, 뜨끈한 물도 아주 잘 나왔답니다. 하지만, JEN 자체 어메니티의 퀄이 조금 아쉬웠답니다.
The bathroom was small but clean, which was highly satisfying. The water pressure was strong, and hot water came out very well. However, I was slightly disappointed with the quality of JEN's own amenities.
전망 / View
주변에 도보로 조지타운 내 관광지들이나 유명 식당들을 찾아갈 수 있는 곳에 있지만, 로비 쪽으로 보이는 룸의 전망은 반대편 호텔이 정면으로 보이는 전망이 거의 없는 곳이었답니다. 커튼을 열어두면 반대편 호텔룸이 보이는 마법...........oTL
The hotel is located within walking distance of tourist attractions and famous restaurants in George Town. However, the view from the rooms towards the lobby side was mostly obstructed by the front view of the opposite hotel. It was a bit disappointing as there was not much of a view. Opening the curtains would reveal the magical sight of the opposite hotel room... oTL
기타 / Miscellaneous
12시가 다 되어가는 시간에 도착했지만, 저희 꼬맹이는 배가 너무 고프다네요. 룸서비스로 수프를 시켜달라고 하네요. 꼬맹이가 좋아하는 양송이수프를 시켰더니 모닝빵이랑 따끈하게 데워진 수프가 왔네요. 진~하게 끓여낸 수프와 치즈 모닝롤이 얼마나 잘 어울리는지 꼬맹이가 한 그릇을 뚝딱 다 먹었답니다.
Even though it was getting late, when we arrived, our child was feeling very hungry. He asked us to order soup through room service. We ordered his favorite mushroom soup, a warm bowl of soup and well-toasted bread arrived. The delicious soup and bread were so tasty that our child finished an entire bowl.

단체관광객보다는 가족단위 이용객들이 많아서 아이와 함께 보내기 좋은 호텔이었답니다. 위치는 조지타운 내에서는 도보로 관광지도 가깝고, 쇼핑몰도 가까워서 이용하는데 편리했지만, 룸 사이즈나 어메니티, 전망은 좀 아쉬웠던 젠 페낭 조지타운이었답니다.
다음에는 전혀 기대 없었지만 아주 괜찮았던 조식당과 조용했던 라운지 등 부대시설 정보를 공유해 볼게요.
It was a hotel that was more suitable for families with children rather than group tourists. The location was convenient as it was within walking distance to the attractions in Georgetown and close to shopping malls. However, the room size, amenities, and view were a bit disappointing at Jen Penang George Town.
Next time, I'll share information about the facilities, such as the surprisingly good breakfast restaurant and the peaceful lounge.
