인천에서 엘에이는 약 11시간가량 소요되며, 저희가 탑승한 오후 2시 30분 비행기는 현지 시간 오전 9시 40분에 도착합니다. 시차 때문에 현지에 도착하는 시간이 한국에서의 출발 시간보다 더 빠른 시간이라는 점은 언제나 신기하죠. 시간을 마치 번 느낌이랄까요?
The flight from Incheon to Los Angeles takes about 11 hours. The plane we boarded at 2:30 PM arrived at 9:40 AM local time. It's always fascinating how the arrival time in the local time zone is earlier than the departure time in Korea due to the time difference. It feels like time has gone backward.

저희는 아침 7시 부산에서 출발하는 내항기를 타고 인천공항으로 올라왔답니다. 내항기는 프레스티지석을 예약하지 않았어도 국제선 기준으로 수화물을 부칠 수 있답니다.
We took a domestic flight from Busan at 7 AM and arrived at Incheon Airport. Even if you didn't book a Prestige Class for the domestic flight, you could still check in your luggage according to international flight booking.

내항기 이용 시, 수화물 기준 / Check in Baggage
부산, 대구 등 인천공항에서 환승되는 내항선을 이용할 경우, 수화물은 국제선 기준으로 부칠 수 있습니다.
예를 들면,
부산->인천 일반석 / 인천->LA 프레스티지석의 경우,
부산에서 부친 수화물은 최종 목적지인 LA에서 찾게 되며, 해당 수화물은 국제선인 프레스티지석을 기준으로 이용 가능합니다.
When using domestic flights with baggage, if you are transferring from airports such as Busan or Daegu to Incheon Airport, you can check in your baggage according to international flight's seat.
For example,
Busan -> Incheon in Economy Class / Incheon -> LA in Prestige Class,
The baggage checked in at Busan will be claimed at the final destination, LA, and that baggage can be used according to the international flight standards of the Prestige Class.
인천공항에서는 제2 터미널 프레스티지 라운지에서 시간을 보내다 탑승했어요. LA 가던 날 날씨가 얼마나 좋던지:) 마치 LA 하늘처럼 너무 맑았답니다.
At Incheon Airport, I spent time at the Terminal 2 Prestige Lounge and then boarded the flight. The weather on the day I was heading to LA was amazing! It was so clear, just like the sky in LA.
탑승과 동시에 받은 생수와 웰컴드링크 그리고 간단한 스낵. 꼬맹이는 비행기 타면 받는 파란색 헤드폰이 좋은지 타자마자 아무것도 안 나오는 헤드폰부터 머리에 끼네요.
Upon boarding, I received a bottle of water, a welcome drink, and a simple snack. My boy immediately put on the blue headphones that are typically provided on flights and enjoyed them.
기내 / Onboard
싱가포르에서 올 때 탔던 비행기랑은 다른 큰 비행기네요. 물론 가격차이가 많이 나지만, 싱가포르도 7시간쯤 타는 긴 거리인데 어메니티도 없고...:( 미국행은 확실히 많은 게 달라 괜히 (소심하게) 아쉽네요.
어메니티는 아뜰리에코롱으로 몇 년째 그대로입니다. (사진을 찍지 못했지만) 파우치에는 아뜰리에코롱 립밤, 핸드크림, 바디로션이 들어있고, 추가로 구둣주걱, 빗, 안대와 칫솔/치약 세트가 들어있답니다.
The airplane I took from Singapore is different from the Los Angeles. Of course, there is a significant price difference, but even for a long-distance flight of about 7 hours like Singapore, there are no individual amenities... :( It's clear that there are many differences for the flight to the United States, and I can't help but feel a bit (timidly) disappointed.
The amenities are still the same Atelier Cologne as before (although I couldn't take a picture). The pouch contains Atelier Cologne lip balm, hand cream, and body lotion. Additionally, there are also a comb, a brush, an eye mask, and a toothbrush/toothpaste set included.
매번 종이책만 받다가, LA행에서 탑승 선물로 받은 뽀로로 담요인형. 꼬맹이가 얼마나 좋아하는지 미국서도 열심히 들고 다니더니, 지금도 가끔 잘 때 옆에 두고 자네요. 담요는 사이즈가 작고 얇아서 애들 유모차나 낮잠 잘 때 살짝 덮어주기 좋아서 아주 잘 쓰고 있고요.
We used to receive paper books every time, but as a boarding gift for the LA flight, we received a Pororo blanket doll. Our little one loves it so much that he has been carrying it around diligently even in the United States. A kid still sometimes sleeps with it by his side. The blanket is small and thin, making it perfect for lightly covering them when they're in the stroller or taking a nap. We're using it very well, and it's quite handy.
기내식 / In-flight Meal
LA행 비행기는 저녁과 아침, 두 번의 식사와 중간 간식이 제공됩니다.
저는 저녁으로는 든든하게 안심스테이크, 아침으론 닭불고기와 북엇국을 주문했고요.
The flight to LA provides two meals, dinner and breakfast, as well as a mid-flight snack. For dinner, I ordered a heavy sirloin steak, and for breakfast, I had chicken bulgogi and dried pollack soup.
꼬맹이는 탑승전 키즈밀로 BBQ치킨과 크로켓, 치즈스파게티를 주문했어요. 먼저 말씀드리자면, 탑승 후 저녁식사에서 아동식을 이용했지만, 아쉬움이 좀 많아...(?!) 아침 식사는 일반식으로 부탁드렸답니다만, 아동식을 사전 주문한 경우 일반식을 다른 분들께 모두 서빙 후 여유분이 남을 경우에만 제공 가능하다고 하네요. 최근에는 여유분이 많지 않게 비행기에 실려져, 여유분이 없을 가능성이 더 높다고 하시더라고요. 서빙이 완료될 때까지 기다리는 것도 애매해서 그냥 제꺼로 꼬맹이랑 같이 나눠먹었답니다.
As for our little one, we ordered the Kids' Meal before boarding, which included BBQ chicken, croquettes, and cheese spaghetti. I have to say, though, that while we opted for the children's meal during the dinner service, there was some disappointment... (?) For breakfast, we requested a regular meal, but they mentioned that they can only provide it if there are leftovers after serving the regular meals to others who pre-ordered children's meals. Recently, they mentioned that there aren't many leftovers on the plane. So, it was also inconvenient to wait until the serving was completed, so we ended up sharing my meal with our little one.

사전 주문한 아동식 BBQ치킨과 크로켓. 달달한 BBQ치킨이 나쁘지는 않았지만, 아동식은 일반석과 프레스티지가 모두 동일하게 나오다 보니 괜히 아깝(?!)더라고요. 아이가 막 잘 먹는 것도 아니고요^^; 프레스티지석 탑승하시는 분들은 아이가 정말 어린이 키즈메뉴가 꼭 필요한 게 아니라면, 일반 메뉴 중에 골라서 드시는 걸 추천드려요.
The pre-ordered Kids' Meal with BBQ chicken and croquettes was not bad, with the sweet BBQ chicken being quite tasty. However, it felt a bit wasteful because the children's meal was the same in both Economy Class and Prestige Class. If you're traveling in Prestige Class and your child doesn't necessarily need a dedicated kids' menu, I would recommend selecting from the regular menu instead.
꼬맹이가 아직 어리다 보니, 아이 식사를 먼저 서빙받고 모두 먹인 후 저도 스테이크를 서빙받았는데요. 사전에 말씀드린 미듐정도로 스테이크 굽기가 딱 제가 원하는 수준으로 구워졌더라고요. 거의 제가 비행기에서 먹어본 스테이크 중에 가~장 맛있었던 것 같아요. 이거 비행기에서 주는 스테이크 맞아? 싶을 정도로 정말 정말 기억에 남게 맛있게 구워진 스테이크였어요.
Since my older boy is still young, they served their meal first, and once he finished eating, I was served the steak. As I requested earlier, the steak was cooked to the exact medium level that I desired. It was almost the most delicious steak I've ever had on a plane. It was so delicious that it made me question if it was really airplane food?. It was cooked so perfectly that it left a lasting impression in my memory.
스테이크를 너무 신나게 가득 먹은 덕분에 치즈는 잘 못 먹었지만:( 고기로 텁텁해진 입을 과일로 상큼하게 입가심도 했답니다.
Thanks to thoroughly enjoying the steak, I was too full to have the cheese, unfortunately. However, I refreshed my palate with some fresh fruits, giving a refreshing touch to my mouth after the rich meat.
이른 아침부터 움직인 탓에 피곤했던 꼬맹이와 저는 한숨 푹~ 잘 잤네요.
After a busy morning of activities, both my older boy and I were tired, so we took a deep breath and had a good sleep.
비행기에선 무조건 라면 하나 먹어줘야죠:) 저는 라면 시키면 나오는 저 오이지가 그렇게 맛있더라고요! ㅎㅎ (라면은 절반도 못 먹으면서) 오이지만 리필요청해서 먹었답니다. 비행기에서 먹는 컵라면도 맛있는데, 그릇에 정갈하게 나온 라면은 더더 맛있어요.
We must have a instant noodles on the plane, right? Whenever I order ramen, those little pickled cucumbers(called "O-ee-gee") that come with it taste so delicious! Even though I couldn't finish half of the ramen, I requested a refill of the pickled cucumbers and enjoyed them. Cup noodles eaten on the plane are tasty, but there's something even more delicious about neatly presented ramen in a ceramic bowl.
저녁은 스테이크로 거하게 먹었으니, 아침은 한국인답게 밥으로 선택했답니다. 닭불고기와 북엇국. 달달한 닭불고기는 아이가 먹고, 저는 북엇국과 밑반찬으로 든든한 한 끼를 먹었답니다.
Since I had a meal with steak for dinner, I decided to go for a rice-based breakfast like a typical Korean. I chose chicken bulgogi and dried pollack soup. Our child enjoyed the sweet chicken bulgogi, while I had the dried pollack soup and side dishes for a satisfying meal.
기타 / Miscellaneous
LA에 거의 도착할 때쯤, 이른 시간이라 바깥이 환하네요. 언제나 사람을 기분 좋게 해주는 캘리의 날씨는 비행기에서 바라보는 하늘조차 맑네요.
As we neared our arrival in LA, it was early in the morning, and the outside was bright. The weather in California always brings a pleasant mood, and even the sky viewed from the airplane appeared clear and beautiful.

안녕 엘에이. 몇 년 만에 저희 가족의 제2의 고향에 다녀왔네요.
요즘 엘에이공항에서 세컨더리로 많이 빠진다는 얘기들을 많이 하던데요. 확실히 예전보다 빡빡하게 질문은 많이 하는 것 같긴 하더라고요. 특히, 젊은 여자분들이나 혼자 여행 오신 분들 중심으로 질문이 많은 것 같았답니다. 저희가 줄 서있는 동안도 몇 분이나 세컨더리로 빠지는 걸 봤네요. 특히, 젊은 분들 여행 오실 때는 혹시 모르니 리턴티켓 하드카피로 프린트해서 가지고 입국하세요.

Hello, LA. It's been a few years since our family visited our second hometown, Los Angeles!
Lately, there have been many cases about increased secondary part at immigration of Los Angeles Airport. It's true that there seem to be more thorough questioning than before. Particularly, I noticed that young women or solo travelers were often the focus of the inquiries. Even while we were in line, I saw several people being directed to secondary inspection. Especially for young travelers, it's a good idea to bring a hard copy of your return ticket, just in case.
친정엄마와 아이들, 저까지. 수화물로 찾은 짐만 11개네요^^;;; 저희가 다 끌고 가기 어려운데 LA공항에는 포터서비스가 있어서 천만다행이죠. 서비스 이용금액은 따로 없고, 도와주신 직원분께 자유롭게 팁만 주시면 됩니다. 저희는 워낙 짐이 많아서 두 분이 도와주셨고, 각각 20불씩 두 분께 드렸어요. 보통은 5~10불 정도 선에서 주시면 된답니다.
We brought a total of 11 pieces of luggage, including my mom, children, and myself. It's quite a challenge for us to handle all of them, but luckily, Los Angeles Airport has porter service, which is a great relief. There is no separate fee for the service, and you can simply give a tip to the helpful staff who assist you. Since we had a lot of luggage, two staff members helped us, and we gave each of them $20. Typically, tipping around $5 to $10 is sufficient.

엘에이 공항에 내려서 짐이 많다면, 공항 포터서비스를 이용해 보세요. 수화물 찾는 곳에서 형광색 조끼를 입거나, 포터서비스 관련 조끼 또는 목걸이를 매고 있는 사람에게 포터서비스를 이용하고 싶다고 얘기하시면 됩니다.
누군지 모르겠다면, 한국인 직원분(LA공항에는 한국인직원분이 많답니다)께 여쭤보세요. 친절하게 불러주신답니다.
포터서비스를 이용하면, 짐을 카트에 모두 싣어서 세관 통과 후 픽업 포인트까지 가져다주실 수 있답니다. 해당 서비스는 무료입니다만, 짐의 정도에 따라 5~20불 정도 자유롭게 tip을 드리면 됩니다.
If you have a lot of luggage when you arrive at Los Angeles Airport, consider using the airport porter service. Look for someone wearing a yellow vest or a porter service-related vest or necklace near the baggage claim area and let them know you would like to use the porter service. If you're unsure, you can ask a Korean staff member (there are many Korean staff members at LA Airport) who will kindly guide you. By using the porter service, they will load all your luggage onto a cart and take it to the pickup point after going through customs. This service is free, but it is customary to give a tip of around $5 to $20 depending on the number of luggage.
총평 / Overall
대한항공 탑승이야 뭐 언제나 최고죠. LA 갈 때는 직원분들이 꼬맹이를 잘 챙겨주셔서 더 감사했어요. 오랜만의 LA행 설렘과 함께 어린아이들과 함께한 탑승기는 불편함 없이 너무 좋았어요. 대한항공은 다른 노선보다 미국행의 만족도가 높은 구간이랍니다!
Korean Air flights are always excellent. I was particularly grateful that the staff took good care of my children during the flight to LA. The flight with the kids was so enjoyable without any discomfort. Korean Air has a high satisfaction rate for the US route compared to other routes!
